Ah yes, I almost forgot writing about THE event on Friday- VL (”Forbidden love”) ;) !

The previews ranged from a simple “dancing together” to “make most intimate wishes true”, so I was really interested in how they would handle it. The answer is- for a daytime soap, quite okay.

Though I’m still undecided about Carla who unnerved me to no end with her little “hints”, but I think I really like Hanna. They were visiting an 80ies party which wasn’t half as crowded as Carla said, but well, enough to dance too close to “Too shy” by Kajagoogoo (don’t say you don’t learn anything on VL- I’ve gotten to know Giacometti and heaps of 80ies music :P ).

The following scene at H&I’s humble abode with the records (btw, they were playing Boy George ;) ) was actually quite realistic, with Hanna being all reluctant and Carla for once being sensitive enough to care about it. She offered to go, but when she had reached the door, Hanna had made up her mind and called her back. She took her by the hand and lead her to the middle of the room, still looking nervous like hell but letting Carla put her head on her shoulder. I’m not sure however how I am to interpret why she glanced to the ceiling- “finally it’s happening” or “what is the hell is happening?”. Carla started to kiss her neck and face, with Hanna just letting it happen (she had her trademark OL= opossum look) and it wasn’t clear whether she enjoyed it or not. Even Carla noticed she didn’t respond, so she asked if she should stop. That, finally, triggered a reaction from Hanna who first OLed and then laughed a little. I interpreted that as “what, are you crazy? No way!”, and she leaned her forehead against Carla’s till they started EMO (=extended making out).

It appeared to me Carla was still in the role of the predator because she was the one who initiated the kisses (mostly, Hanna kissed her very briefly once like she did in KUDAL = Kuss um die Anmacher loszuwerden = Kiss to get rid of the jerks), and she was the one who started to undress Hanna once they had tumbled to the floor. Hanna followed her example and worked on that stupid slip knot of the ugly green blouse Carla was wearing, but I can’t help it, she still looked far from being very excited (or even aroused, but I blame that on the actress; the other love scene in the lift with her virtual bf was just as- um, lively). And so they kissed on and on, till we cut to the commercials (there was about 1:24min of EMO, I checked :P ).

Remarks from my pov:

  • the hands stayed very chastely on the neck, shoulders and faces. You could say Hanna doesn’t dare to touch Carla yet, but Carla was certainly willing to, the way she kissed her… I hope I can blame that on the broadcasting time (kids may be watching, after all :roll: ) and not on the fact these writers believe there is only vanilla sex between women.
  • I didn’t expect them to make love just now. I mean, I read the spoilers and all, but it’s really going very fast and I totally would have understood if Hanna only wanted to dance, hug and kiss at first before going all the way. After all, she is new to this whole thing and when she is even unsure at first about only dancing with Carla, then maybe Carla is moving too fast for her.
  • several of Carla’s gestures came across as possessive, to the point where it looked more like strangling than kissing. Maybe the actress is really into it (who knows :p? J/k!) but I think I’d like it more if she was more tender.
  • I liked the way the actress portraying Hanna was a little hesitant when they were facing each other in the beginning. She looked like she really wanted to kiss Carla but was too afraid to. The skyward glance was also nice, it fitted the role of Hanna. Unfortunately, she also used OL a lot, and I’m sorry, but this look is NOT an all-purpose tool, it’s the look of “I don’t know how to act”!
  • Isn’t it cold and hard on the floor :sick:?
  • Does the title “Do you really want to hurt me?” have any significance for the future story or did it just come in handy?
  • if I remember correctly, my grams is watching VL, too. It would be really interesting to know what she said about that- you can’t possibly ignore almost 1 1/2 minutes of two women kissing on your screen…

Hm, I think I’m now officially addicted to Canna (that’s Carla & Hanna, not what you think :P !)… welcome, new obsession ;) !
