Say What You Need To Say
Saw a Norwegian movie called “Elling 2″. I had never heard of it before, and though there were some good moments in it, altogether I thought it was rather weird. It’s about a mentally handicapped, 30 year old man who still lives with his old mother, and they go on a trip to Mallorca. Once there, Elling gets jealous of his mother because she befriends another senior in the hotel, and Elling himself gets confused about the women around him. In the end, the mother dies after Elling has learned he has to give other people some freedom. Elling’s outbursts (about his mother having incestuous thoughts or the tour guide being a slut) make it really really hard to come to like the character, and besides, for my taste, far too little happens over the course of 78 minutes. Maybe I would have like this better if I had seen the first movie, but in this case: 2 out of 6 Meeps – disappointing.
