Nothing but strudel

Sunday, January 29th, 2006

Being in an adventuresome spirit, I decided to try myself on apple strudel this weekend, and it even worked! A bit too well though because now I’m sitting on three strudels and there is only so much pastries one person can eat. Anyone wanna come by for hot apple strudel with vanilla sauce ;)?

At home “The Court Jester” (1956) on DVD was waiting for me. A friend of mine had recommended it to me and that person was so right, the movie is really funny of the silly kind, that is, a bit like “The Naked Gun” et al. Throw in some songs, actors who obviously enjoy uttering lines like “The pellet with the poison’s in the flagon with the dragon; the vessel with the pestle has the brew that is true” and wearing costumes that any self-respecting interior decorator would burn right away and you get a laugh-out-loud comedy. Plus I finally got to see Angela Lansbury in something else than “Murder, She Wrote” ;). Such a coincidence that Danny Kaye, who played the jester, has had a birthday just two days ago - I love it when things happen like that, hehe.

Wild life

I went for a walk yesterday because I had lots of other stuff nothing better to do ;). The water level is so low you can walk in places which are not accessible the rest of the year, and so I went down to the Rhine’s river bed again - this time on the Northern Shore however. It’s really amazing what people throw away / loose. I found countless bottles, glasses and cans, but also shoes resp. soles, gloves, slips, plates, CDs, an old ID and, most interesting of them all, a huge bag containing a half-liquefied photo album and a German translation of the Koran. There was also a key in there but nothing else, so I’m wondering whether it was thrown in deliberately or if it just fell in? I felt a bit like I was on CSI, he ;).

A friend of mine has borrowed me his “Illusive tracks”-DVD (Swedish with English subtitles, tack!), and I almost fell off my chair watching it again, it was so rofl :D. As said before, if you ever get the chance to catch it, do so - it’s absolutely hilarious :D!
