TV bubble

I’ve been watching “Without a trace” mainly for Poppy Montgomery (a.k.a. My New Obsession), but it looks more and more like a really good crime show. Count on me not to notice this until it is in its fourth season … However, that’s not such a bad thing because the first two seasons are available on DVD already .

Best view, first day

Hooray, today the cathedral’s tower has been opened for visitors :) (after being closed due to restauration for the last 7+ years). Since admittance was free and it’s Saturday, you can imagine what masses of people pushed through the narrow stair case (really narrow: spiral staircase + 25 people coming down + 25 people going up = :dizzy:). However, the waiting and climbing was absolutely worth it because once on the roof, you have an absolutely spectacular view over the city, the Rhine, the Lake of Konstanz, the Reichenau and large parts of Switzerland. It’s really funny seeing the old town from above: I’ve discovered more than one roof garden ;), plus I also found my house :D! Have a look for yourself at my photolog.

Turntablism and Post-Bop

These are music genres I never knew even existed… and there are more! Like Finger-Picked Guitar, Afro-Brazilian, Dream Pop, Honky Tonk, Appalachian Folk or Neo-Traditionalist Country. I found them at Download.com, upon which I have stumbled via Tonspion. They are both very good sources for legally downloading lots of mp3s from all sorts of artists, covering the genres above and a few more conventional ones like Indie Pop, R&B or House ;). I’m currently listening to my prey of over 80 songs, and so far I’m almost liking all of them. Btw, the mp3s are usually encoded at 192kb/s (=better quality) and are not restricted in any way. Happy downloading :)!

It’s a gift shop now. - Frak me.

So the Twelf lent me “Battlestar Galactia” (the mini-series) in an attempt to make me addicted and it might just work :P.
What I liked about it were the character development and the actors, it was interesting to follow and there are lots of further stories to be told: all in all, an interesting universe. On the minus side sometimes only mediocre CGI, a plot which seemed at times a bit aimless and had some holes (Dr. Baltar is conveniently picked up in the crowd, the major jump which had everyone worried happens and no one looses one word over it), plus a certain predictability (Starbuck to Apollo: “I thought you were dead.” D’un !). On the whole, the mini-series has its flaws but one can hope this is getting better in the TV show itself.

New York, New York

Da Twelf’s parcle has arrived yesterday :D, and in it was “On the town”, a classic Hollywood musical from 1949 with Gene Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Ann Miller and Betty Garrett. I’m completely in love with the score by Leonard Bernstein!
