Auto-close comments

This plugin shuts off your comments and pingbacks after 21 days - which helps to fight spam efficiently. All you have to do after activating the plugin is edit one random entry, and it kicks in. You can also specify the number of days the plugin should close the comments after posting.

There are actually very few movies I have seen in my life which really deserve this grade, but unfortunately “Voodoo Dolls” can only be described as abysmal. Why you ask (and of course you do :P)?

I also managed to listen to all of Nelly Furtado’s new album “Loose” and I actually like it, though it’s rather different as the predecessor “Folklore” (as said before). Current faves are “In God’s Hands” and “Te Busque” (featuring Juanes, yay :)). In fact there is almost no song I would skip immidately, except maybe for the only sometimes bearable “No Hay Igual”. Apart from that, “Loose” seems to be well-produced and flows smoothly, albeit a tiny bit too middle-of-the-road. 4 out of 6 Meeps - good

After a while I became unsatisfied with the way Wordpress handles drafts, and especially how they are displayed. Wordpress simply puts title after title, which becomes soon confusing if you have more than one or two drafts. So I came up with this hack (Wordpress 2.0+ only). It arranges your drafts in an unordered list on top of your ‘Write Post’ page. ( Screenshot) You have to replace the following code in the post.php in ‘wp-admin’:

“Viral video sharing is new headache for music biz”

After tirelessly (and rather unsuccessfully) fighting P2P networks, the music industry has found a new poster child for their “internet users are evil” campaign: music videos being shared. They obviously have yet to realize that a crappy video filmed from MTV or the likes is not a threat but free promotion. No one who is merely curious will buy the whole deal for $2,49, but anybody who has seen all of it and liked it is far more likely to spend that kind of money. Is that really so hard to understand or is it just the greed obfuscating the view :greedy:?

Meep’s Photos has been upgraded from Pixelpost 1.4.1 to 1.5.2, which comes with an improved admin interface and some new themes. I chose the one called “simple” and only added the thumbnail row of pictures to the bottom by inserting <IMAGE_THUMBNAIL_ROW>. Among the improvements for administrators is the option to choose how many photos you want to see in your “images” tab (especially useful for large photologs with >100 pictures, like mine) and newly introduced spam control to fight referer and comment spam. Upgrading went smoothly and without problems. I can only recommend Pixelpost as the photolog script of choice, since it’s easy to set-up and maintain. And of course I also added new pics - now over 500 :)!
