Or: Two down, who knows how many to go
It’s that time of year again – and no, I’m not talking about Christmas :P – it’s November, and we have entered the Sweeps period. The time of year when all TV shows try to outsmart each other with lots of tragedy, big explosions, bigger guest stars and shocking revelations! Warning: lots of spoilers for “Lost”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Grey’s Anatomy”!

We’ve had the death card for Mr. Eko on “Lost” already but of course the creators tried to top themselves with what they modestly called “The Best Episode This Season” (I presume they mean “This Half-Season”, since “Lost” goes on a three month hiatus). It was definitely better than most of the season so far, with twists and turns, an unpredictable Jack, some action-driven scenes and a cliffhanger. The flashbacks on the other hand were pretty much a waste of time: all we learned is that Kate was married before, but don’t tell me you were actually surprised she doesn’t stay?

“Desperate Housewives” finally delivered an excellent episode (aptly entitled “Bang”) which reminded me again why I loved this show so much in its first season. I wasn’t very surprised that Nora was killed, only the way shocked me – and to be honest, I’m quite relieved she’s gone. Carolyn Bigsby’s demise I morn a lot more because her character was great (and Laurie Metcalf is a fantastic actress). The flashbacks to Mary-Ellen’s suicide drew a nice circle, and for once Susan wasn’t as annoying as usual.

Nothing of that magnitude happend on “Grey’s Anatomy”, however as of the last episode (”Where the boys are”), at least McDreamy and Meredith have overcome (?) their differences and are an item again. Dr. Montgomery-Shephard is now officially Dr. Montgomery, Bailey kicks ass again and Izzy seems to get over Danny (or not).

On a completely unrelated note, did you know that Kate Walsh (Dr. Addison Montgomery) played Sandra Oh’s (Dr. Christina Yang) girlfriend in a movie called “Under the Tuscan sun”? Not that it is really earth-shattering, but I love these coincidences: take a look and read what Kate Walsh has to say about that.

And in “Let’s have a completely unfounded lesbian kiss on the show to boost ratings” news, a show I have never even heard of figures prominently: “The New Adventures of Old Christine” with Julia Louis-Dreyfus. I have no idea what the episode is about, and I’m not overly amused by the kiss.
