Lucie Silvas is mainly known for her killer song “What you’re made of”, and her debut album “Breathe In” showed how talented a song writer and singer she really is. It took some time, but now the successor “The Same Side” is scheduled for release.
Strangely enough, Lucie Silvas’ new album won’t be released in her home country Great Britain until spring 2007. But we continental Europeans were lucky this time and got her album way earlier
.
- Last Year: good single, easy to get into, but not the best song of the album – MMMM
- Sinking In: up-beat and catchy – MMMM
- The Same Side: for my taste a bit too pretentious, I prefer the acoustic version – MMM
- Trying Not to Lose: nothing special, the singing sounds rather bored – MMMM
- Something About You: not bad, but not really good either: I would have wished for a more distinct hook – MMM
- Place To Hide: a very inspired ballad, very beautiful – MMMMMM
- Right Here: equally nice, soothing ballad – MMMM
- Counting: wonderful, very light-headed – MMMMM
- Already Gone: also a very good song, – MMMMM
- Alone: for me, the highlight of the album! Strong lyrics and a hypnotic melody bring out the best of Lucie’s talent – MMMMMM
- Passionate You: not my favorite, neither lyric- nor music-wise – MM
All in all, not as strong as her first effort, “Breathe In”, but especially the ballads make this album very worthwhile. 4 out of 6 Meeps – good
