Wordpress 2.3.1 came with a few good things but the dashboard is still the same bloated monster with the links to the Developer Blog and other news, which slow down loading considerably. Here are a few tips how on how to streamline it a bit and give you only what you need.
Sadly, Loriot’s partner in crime, Evelyn Hamann, a very popular German actress and comedienne, has passed away on Monday. In memoriam her great talent, have the “Die 2 Cousinen” clip (even if you aren’t German, give it a try, it’s fantastic).
Just took some long hours and now I have a (hopefully) working new theme on my blog. There might still be some bugs and quirks, so if anything looks strange, please tell me!
I’ve just updated to Wordpress 2.3.1 and still have to tweak plugins and themes, so please bear with me and the ugly default theme!
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you heard Rihanna’s uber-hit “Umbrella”. But have you heard the same song as a slow, acoustic number? Compare: Rihanna’s version vs. Mandy Moore’s.
Check out these really marvellous & funny animated shorts about adventures in the insect trade:
I really enjoy your music, and “Back to Black” is one of my favorite albums of this year. I’ve introduced all my friends to your music and on more than one occasion, presented your CD as a gift because I think everybody can find something in it they like. I have mainly ignored the reports about your drug/alcohol abuse and marriage(s) because frankly I’m only interested in you as an artist and not as a 24 year old tattooed drug addict with tooth spaces and weird beehive hair. But now that I’ve seen a live show with you, I have to say:
Who says online games can’t teach you something useful? Launchball will give you a better understanding of physics, but it’s so addictive you won’t even notice. Try to maneuver your ball through 30 levels by making use of fans, batteries and ramps - even if you hated physics at school, you will love this game!
The geek in me likes to carry a USB stick when I’m on the road or somebody asks for my computer help. The geek in me rejoices at PortableApps, which makes it possible to have a bunch of useful programs running on your USB device - that means you can open your files everywhere, without the need to install anything on another machine. It’s especially useful for having your e-mails (Thunderbird) and bookmarks (Firefox), but there is a whole range of portable applications to choose from, like FTP, audio editors, anti-virus software, instant messaging, the whole OpenOffice suite or media players. The installation is really easy and the use is equally trouble-free. All in all, a really good idea even if you’re not a geek ;).
