It’s been a while (in fact, it was June) when the Corrs’ lead singer Andrea Corr released her solo album “Ten Feet High” on to the unsuspecting and largely uninterested public. I listened to it for quite a while and “Stupidest girl in the world” has become a memory song (trip to London), so of course I’ll have to give you a detailed review of her debut CD!

  1. Hello Boys: strong opening song with very catchy beat and naughty lyrics, as anti-Corrs as you can possibly get – love it! MMMMM
  2. Anybody There: seemingly very simple, but gets to you and stays in your ear for days! MMMMM
  3. Shame On You: lead single, but even though the lyrics are heavy, the song fails to evoke strong emotions MM
  4. I Do: horrible, eerie vision of a perfect marriage – stranger than strange! M
  5. Ten Feet High: has a strong 80s vibe and is a good song in its own right, however falls short of the perfect song it could have been MMM
  6. Champagne From A Straw: sounds like St Tropez, big sunglasses and drinks with olives galore – a tame satire of today’s jetset MMM
  7. 24 Hours: starts a bit weirdly, but has an enormously catchy chorus! MMMM
  8. This Is What It’s All About: very tender & soft ballad, like a feather stroke… MMMM
  9. Take Me I’m Yours: heavily synthezised cover version, dark and hypnotic MMMMM
  10. Stupidest Girl In The World: for me personally, the best song of the album: haunting lyrics, heavy chorus MMMMM
  11. Ideal World: thoughtful, very relaxing ballad MMMM
  12. Amazing: this bonus track from the Japanes edition is a nice and welcome addition, since it is a strictly piano/voice song which brings out Andrea’s talent MMMM

All in all, a pretty decent (and refreshingly un-Corr-like) effort from Andrea, but definitely NOT a classic: 4 out of 6 Meeps
