To be honest, I have no idea that “The Tudors” is about as I have never watched it - my half-forgotten history lessons and a look at the website make me think I’m not very wrong in assuming England, kings, wives, beheadings, intrigue, sex and violence - fun, really!
Or something a bit more clever ;). Anyway, Duffy is begging for Mercy, and Madcon are just “Beggin” - they are so desperate, they don’t even have time for proper spelling ;p. What they *do* have time for though is an extremely groovy song: I’ll bet you anything you start nodding your head to the beat in no time flat!
Ohrwurm time! If you can tell me why this song is called “Pumpkin soup”, you… well, are smarter than me ;). Point is though that this tune by Kate Nash is extremely catchy, and the bright colours of the video are a perfect match.
A big field of computer human interaction is usability, which means how well certain things can be used by their user. These things can be anything from the handle of a door over a car seat to a website - everything that can be used can be judged by its usability. For man-made objects, this means the design is scrutinized under certain criteria - such as affordance or suitability - and it won’t surprise you that many designs spectacularly fail this scrutiny (especially the ones that are uber-pretty: let it be said, design isn’t everything!).
I’m very happy to report that finally the original “Mädchen in Uniform” is going to be released on DVD in April 2008. So far, the movie from 1931 has only been available on tape in German with English subtitles. The cover art is a bit weird, showing just Hertha Thiele as Manuela, or more precisely, her head:
I had two epiphanies today: 1) it’s a holiday and I forgot to buy food. Dang. 2) I know why my XAMPP doesn’t display any images. It’s nothing to do with the Apache configuration and only marginally with permissions. It was simply caused by my very restrictive .htaccess rules, and since disabling it, all is fine again.
I’ve always liked Moloko (of “Sing It Back” and “The Time Is Now” fame), especially the voice of their singer called Roísín Murphy. Now that Moloko is no more, Murphy has gone on to make music as a solo artists and has released her second album called “Overpowered” a few months ago. Better late than never, I’ve come across it via the new single “You Know Me Better”:
If you have cats, you know what this man is drawing about. If you don’t, trust him - having them is exactly as horribly funny as he shows it!
This time it’s slightly more obscure (not the name, that may not be possible) but life is too short to restrict yourself to one kind of music ;). So listen to Firewater with “This is my life”.
