Meep’s Musings

Say What You Need To Say
June 3rd, 2008

It finally happened

I’m ashamed to be a fan of the Corrs. Thank you Jim Corr for that!

Lately, there hasn’t been much news of the Corrs, except about the odd pregnancy or solo album. Now however, Jim Corr felt obliged to break the silence to appear on Matt Cooper’s “The Last Word” radio show to give his opinion about the Lisbon Treaty.

And boy, what did he have to say. About two sentences into the interview, he claimed to have studied the New World Order extensively and spent the next 10 minutes elaborating on that - it saddens me to say that it was complete and utter rubbish. Not even well presented, a convoluted web of ridiculous conspiracy theories, topped only by the allegation that 9/11 “obviously” was an inside job endorsed by George W. Bush.

I can live with people saying the Corrs are untalented/bland/too pretty/too boring/too Irish/undistinguishable/unimportant/etc. What I cannot live however is one of them talking such nonsense and apparently meaning every word. It doesn’t make a difference whether it’s Jim or Andrea who likes to live with their feet in their mouths - this is simply ludicrous. Little piece of advice: stick to the music, at least you’re good at it!

  1. Independent.ie: Corr brother says 9/11 ‘an inside job’
  2. Not surprisingly, the scathing commentary on it a few days later
