I’m very happy to report that finally the original “Mädchen in Uniform” is going to be released on DVD in April 2008. So far, the movie from 1931 has only been available on tape in German with English subtitles. The cover art is a bit weird, showing just Hertha Thiele as Manuela, or more precisely, her head:
A while ago, I already drew your attention to “Gray matters”, a romantic comedy about “a sister, a brother and the girl of their dreams”. Now that I’ve finally seen it, of course I can’t keep myself from commenting on the matters at hand (sorry for bad pun!) - SPOILERS!
A movie which has been in the works for years finally will be released on February 13th: “Gray matters”, a romantic comedy about “a brother, a sister and the girl of their dreams”. Starring Heather Graham, Tom Cavanaugh and Bridget Moynahan as sister, brother and girl of their dreams, respectively, “Gray matters” seems to fall in the same category as “Imagine me and you”: a straight comedy with a lesbian twist.
The wonders of YouTube make it possible for me to finally take a closer look at something I have only read about so far: “All my children”’s lesbian storyline, centering around Bianca (Eden Riegel).
…or The Gay Slur That Just Wouldn’t Die - Isaiah Washington made things a lot worse when he referred to this whole mess yet again at the Golden Globes. And outright denied he ever called his co-star T.R. Knight a “faggot”, which in turn caused Knight to set things right at the Ellen DeGeneres show:
I have very mixed feelings about “The L Word” - I compliantly watched seasons 1 and 2, since I thought I kind of had to, being a lesbian and all ;). While I enjoyed some of it, I wouldn’t really call myself a fan, especially not of the trainwreck that was the third season. I stopped watching mid-season because I couldn’t bring myself to care any more about any of these characters and I wasn’t happy with any of their stories. Now however…
You may or may not know Reichen Lehmkuhl and Lance Bass, the new gay “It” couple. And you may or may not have noticed this annoying habit to find names for famous couples, like “Spederline” for Britney Spears and Kevin Federline, or “Brangelina” for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Of course it was only a matter of time before Reichen and Lance fell victim to that too. They were dubbed “Leichen”, and that’s a really bad idea because…
You a lesbian?
- You a jackass?
