Say What You Need To Say
The Christmas break has officially begun because I had just one course today and now I can finally go home to my parents (not until tomorrow though).
I can’t really say why but I’m somehow both very surprised and very happy about George Takei coming out – and I even met him, kinda , on the FedCon. Woohoo for more celebrities coming out of the closet!
Lesbian Drama Certain To Attract Controversy in U.K.Britain’s Channel Four is bracing for intense controversy after it begins airing a miniseries tonight (Wednesday) about a lesbian relationship between two teenage girls. The 10-part miniseries, Sugar Rush, based on the book by journalist Julie Burchill, is expected to come under attack from the same groups that [...]
Not much else going at the moment except there are lesbians in every second TV show I’m watching right now – not that I’m complaining . I stumbled over them on this week’s episode of “Cold Case”, which centered around an inter-racial butch-femme couple in the 1930s and was pretty good, and on Austrian [...]
In what way may be debatable (though I’m strongly leaning towards the unplatonic kind ), but having seen some Star Trek: Voyager episodes recently leaves little doubt in my mind that Janeway has deeper feelings for a certain ex-Borg. And now look at that picture and tell me what you think Kate Mulgrew wanted [...]
Watched the first part of “Fingersmith”, an adaption of Sarah Water’s book, and I find it a bit harder to like than “Tipping the velvet”, which I fell in love with instantly. However I remember that I had the same trouble reading the book, so it’s not the movie’s fault. It feels a bit jumpy [...]
Indian Lesbian Film Attacked by Fundamentalists, Gays
An Indian film about a lesbian love affair that touched off violent protests — and, in one instance, a theater burning — by the fundamentalist Shiv Sena party after it was released this month, has now encountered opposition from gay activists. The Organized Lesbian Alliance for Visibility and Action [...]
Yesterday night, I’ve been to the Pink apple film festival again, this time to see “Die Mommy die” – yes, that title says it all. It sounded like a funny parody in the review, unfortunately it was one of the most unfunny movies I have ever seen. Jason Priestley comes to mind as utterly untalented [...]
Saw “Goldfish memory” yesterday night at the Pink apple film festival. It was quite funny (and thankfully not dubbed), a little jumpy in between (there are about 5 different sub plots and they are only loosely intertwined) and it unfortunately declined towards the end, especially as it ended a bit too abruptly. The actresses were [...]
“Girls in Uniform” on DVD rocks – not that there are too many extras, but there’s an interesting interview with the producer (who hints at an affair between Romy Schneider and Lilli Palmer , and as they are both dead, they can’t deny it) and you can watch certain scenes in slow motion [...]
Ah yes, I almost forgot writing about THE event on Friday- VL (”Forbidden love”) !
The previews ranged from a simple “dancing together” to “make most intimate wishes true”, so I was really interested in how they would handle it. The answer is- for a daytime soap, quite okay.
Bridget Jones To Have Lesbian Fling?
Hollywood actress Renee Zellweger is set to shock fans in the Bridget Jones’s Diary sequel, after it was revealed her character will indulge in a lesbian fling. Texas native Zellweger, who piled on the pounds for a second time to reprise her role as the unlucky-in-love Brit, has been spotted [...]
Woohoo, my “Tipping the Velvet”-DVD arrived today ! You can find out more about this excellent lesbian drama based on the novel by Sarah Waters at the BBC.
Saw “Tipping the Velvet” yesterday which is sooo cool! It’s set in the 1880s and tells the story of Nan, an oyster girl who falls in love with the male impersonator Kitty and follows her to London. After Kitty breaks her heart, she has to find her way through various trials until she finds true [...]
I’ve just spent the better part of this Sunday with transcribing an episode of German daily soap “Verbotene Liebe” (= “Forbidden love”). One episode is only 22 minutes long, but it took me 1 1/2 hours (!) to type it, it’s unbelievable. However, I really shouldn’t complain because I volunteered as part of a PBP [...]
