I’m ashamed to be a fan of the Corrs. Thank you Jim Corr for that!

Lately, there hasn’t been much news of the Corrs, except about the odd pregnancy or solo album. Now however, Jim Corr felt obliged to break the silence to appear on Matt Cooper’s “The Last Word” radio show to give his opinion about the Lisbon Treaty.

Despite my rant from a few days ago, I have managed to get my hands on the mentioned bonus tracks (thanks to 12chen again!). They’re called “Goodbye (Demo version)” and “Pebble in the Brook”.

It appears the Corrs’ record company has finally, after a long and painfully slow struggle, decided to use this groovy new thing called “The Internet” to promote and sell the group’s music. However, they are doing a tremendously bad job: denying willing buyers the opportunity to purchase the product can hardly be called brilliant.

Every time the Corrs release a new single, no matter if I like the song or approve of the choice, I suggest it to various radio stations, one of them being SWR3 (biggest here in Southern Germany). I don’t expect much but I figure it can’t hurt, and so I did it for “Goodbye (2006 Remix)” too.

I may not like it, but it seems as if “Dreams: The Ultimate Corrs collection” is happening. The Corrs official website, hardly the fastest source of news but still the only one with “official” in the name, has finally confirmed that November 20th, 2006 will see the release of the second best of album.

In a recent radio interview to raise awareness for World Sight Day, Jim Corr has mentioned the possibility of a new Corrs album still this year, also dropping names like the Chieftains, Bono and Ronnie Wood as collaborators.

While I’m certainly excited, I’m also a bit hesitant to believe that time frame. First of all, he only mentioned the possibility - nothing certain yet. Secondly, they are way too late for the profitable Christmas season (again). Thirdly, most likely Andrea will be busy promoting her solo album when it is released early 2007, and I seriously doubt she would endeavour this with a new Corrs record in the wings. On the bright side, the Corrs haven’t split up and are in the process of writing new songs, so I’m sure I can wait a little bit longer for it :).
